October 20-21 and 28-29:

6th grade we  used modeling clay to make desserts. We also drew some desserts. The next week we worked on more clay desserts. I didn't have clays, so I drew mine. We learned about Wayne Thiebaud. He is 100 years old and still making art. I'm not finished with my cake yet.

5th grade, I presented a demo on how to turn-in contour line drawings into Google Classroom. It's not as easy as you would think.

4th grade we shared our monchromatic silhouette action figures and worked on turning these into Google Classroom. Then we started on drawing fall leaves in black crayon, then watercoloring them with warm colors. Yesterday, we watercolored the background with cool colors. I also did a demo on turning in assignments to Google Classroom, but it didn't go so well. I have multiple Google accounts and it kept changes my accounts. Oh well. The teacher has an excellent tutorial in all of her GC classrooms under resources.

2nd grade we shared our landscapes wtih illusions of depth and tried the google classroom thing. We also played in Klecki.com drawing new landscapes.

In the first Adaptive class, my Mentor teacher was having some technical problems, so I welcomed the class and got them to get their materials ready. We made spiders out of clay and then drew them with black crayon and stars in warm colors. Next we watercolored over them with cool night colors.

I am participating in an 18 hour field placement at Belle View Elementary School.  Ms. Paris is my mentor teacher and I am so lucky to get to watch her teach, especially in the virtual environment during the pandemic. She is amazing! She is great with all the students and is so organized; it is wonderful.

(October 12 - 16, 2020)
Here are my versions of the projects the students are doing this week.

For 6th Grade, we did Tim Burton style Self-Portraits. I had so much fun with this, I did two. The first is my Sky-diver self and the second is my Skier.

For 4th Grade we made action Silhouettes (in proportion) on Monochromatic backgrounds.

For 5th Grade we made Contour Drawings.  I need more practice with this.

For 2nd Grade we worked on Fall Landscapes with the Illusion of Depth

In the Adaptive classes, we make rubbings of leaves to learn about implied texture. Then we pressed objects into clay to experience actual texture. Everyone did a great job and had fun. I didn't have any leaves, so I did mine the next day. One of my leaves was a bit wet and tore my paper, but that's ok.
